ECUST Undergraduates won 3 Gold, 1 Silver, and 2 Bronze Medals at 2026 Archery World Cup
Recently, the Puebla stage of the 2026 Archery World Cup in Mexico concluded. Jingyi Zhu, a 2024 undergraduate majoring in Athletic Training at the School of Sports Science and Engineering of ECUST, delivered an outstanding performance in the recurve bow category.
Not only did she claim her first World Cup individual gold medal, but she also teamed up with her teammates to win gold in both the women’s team and mixed team events. Additionally, she helped the team win the gold, silver, and bronze medals in the women’s recurve competition, highlighting the vitality of ECUST students and the strength of Chinese archery.

At this World Cup stage in Mexico, the Chinese team advanced to three gold medal matches across five recurve events, achieving an impressive result of three golds, one silver, and two bronzes. In the women’s recurve competition, Zhu’s performance was particularly remarkable. In the women’s individual recurve event, she topped the ranking round with a score of 659 points and maintained strong form through the semifinals and gold medal match to secure her first World Cup individual title.
In the women’s team recurve event, the Chinese team composed of three young athletes born after 2005, defeated their opponents 6–0 to claim the title. This marked the Chinese women’s team’s second World Cup team gold, following their victory at the 2025 Archery World Cup in Auburn, USA.
In the recurve mixed team event, Jingyi Zhu partnered with teammate Jingxuan Sun to defeat teams from Singapore, Chinese Taipei, and Colombia, advancing decisively to the gold medal match and ultimately winning the title, adding another gold for China. Across all three events she competed in, including the individual, women’s team, and mixed team categories, Jingyi Zhu claimed gold in all.
After the competition, Jingyi Zhu shared her reflections: “It still feels a bit unreal. I’m very happy that I was able to perform at my best and stand on the podium with my teammates. We will give our all in the upcoming World Cup stage in Shanghai and future competitions. Thank you all for your support. We will stay focused and do our best in every step.”
Zhu’s performance on the international stage has not only brought honor to the university but also demonstrated the dedication and sense of responsibility of a new generation of Chinese athletes. ECUST will continue to support students in balancing athletic development and academic growth, cultivating high-level sports talents with both professional excellence and a strong sense of national commitment.
