ECUST Team Launched AI plus Polymers v3.0 Platform

In recent years, AI has been rapidly transforming a wide range of industries at an unprecedented speed. In the key field of advanced high-performance polymer materials, the new research paradigm of AI for Polymers and its series of AI achievements are driving China’s material research and development from the traditional experience-based trial-and-error approach toward an intelligence-driven era of precision design.

Focusing on core technological bottlenecks of new materials for aerospace and advanced equipment, the team led by Professor Jiaping Lin at ECUST has pioneered AI-driven polymer research in China since 2013.

After over ten years of intensive efforts, the team has established the innovative AI for Polymers paradigm and developed the AI plus Polymers intelligent R&D platform with fully independent intellectual property rights. High-performance resins and advanced conductive adhesives developed through this platform have been successfully applied in practice, effectively supporting the actual needs of key national sectors.

In January 2026, the team officially launched the upgraded AI plus Polymers v3.0 and Chat AIPolym large model, and activated the first international domain name dedicated to AI plus polymers, www.aipluspolymers.com. The AI plus Polymers v3.0 platform addresses diverse R&D needs in polymer materials and features comprehensive upgrades in data, models and algorithms.

Chat AIPolym is China’s first large model integrating general-purpose and domain-specific capabilities in the polymer field. By integrating natural language, scientific knowledge and domain-specific models, it supports functions such as multimodal intelligent dialogue, multi-objective predictive design, recommendation of material design criteria, and professional knowledge generation, driving the comprehensive intelligent evolution of polymer research and development.

Expanding this AI paradigm to areas such as structural, functional, and biomedical polymer materials, and enabling their design, development, and industrial digitalization, reflects the vision of Jiaping Lin and his team. The new AI paradigm has significantly accelerated the progress of materials science discovery, driving innovation in R&D models and efficiency improvement, and is expected to accelerate China’s progress toward original innovation and intelligent manufacturing of high-performance polymer materials at a faster speed and lower cost.
